Accessibility Statement

Know My Rights is committed to providing accessible, inclusive, and usable digital information for as many people as possible, including people with disability.

We recognise that accessibility is essential to ensuring people can understand their rights, participate equally, and engage with information in ways that work for them. Accessible design also improves clarity and usability for everyone.

Our approach to accessibility

Know My Rights has been designed with reference to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, with a goal of supporting Level AA accessibility wherever reasonably possible.

Non-HTML documents

Some content may be provided in non-HTML formats such as PDF or Word documents. These documents may require compatible software (for example, Adobe Acrobat Reader).

Accessibility of Intellectual Disability modules

Some modules on Know My Rights, designed for people with intellectual disability, were developed by Inclusion Australia.

Inclusion Australia is responsible for the accessibility of these modules. Their accessibility statement is provided below.

We are committed to making this program accessible and usable.

This program was designed for people with intellectual disability and informed by user testing and feedback from people with lived experience. The content uses clear language, simple navigation, and visual supports to help users understand and engage with the information.

The program was developed using WCAG 2.1 principles at Level AA and was tested at this level. Some accessibility features are limited by the functionality of the online learning platform and cannot be fully customised.

Based on testing and feedback, we are satisfied that the program meets accessibility expectations for its intended users. Where users experience barriers, alternative access is available, including a downloadable Word document (DOCX) containing the same information.

We have made every effort to make this program accessible for its intended users.
