Module Overview
Know it is the first module in the Know My Rights series for for family members, friends, and carers of NDIS participants.
This module focuses on understanding participant rights and your role in supporting those rights. It helps you learn how to clarify information, fill in gaps, and build a participant’s confidence so they can make informed decisions and speak up for themselves.
Your role is not to take control of the NDIS journey, but to walk alongside the participant — supporting their choices, advocating when needed, and helping them feel informed, respected, and empowered.
Purpose
To help family members, friends, and carers understand participant rights and support participants to feel informed, confident, and empowered in their NDIS journey.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand what it means to empower an NDIS participant
- Explain why empowerment is important for informed decision-making and confidence
- Recognise the core rights of NDIS participants
- Support participants to understand information and make decisions that reflect their goals and preferences

Family members, friends, and carers who support NDIS participants and want to better understand participant rights and their role in upholding them.
